Following his brilliant tongue-in-cheek offering 'Str8 Acting' back in July, South London-based musical drag phenomenon Lynks Afrikka (aka Elliott Brett) has returned with a worryingly catchy new tune. Not to be fooled by its seemingly trivial title 'On Trend' is an industrial pop anthem that encapsulates the hopelessness of modern life. Inspired by our impending extinction at the hands of climate change, Brett's honest and unfiltered lyrics flow like a paranoid stream of consciousness, shedding light on the frighteningly relatable trials and tribulations of a society that faces a seemingly Sisyphean struggle. Musically mirrored by an ascending synth sequence, enthusiastic backing vocals add energy and emphasis the some of the track's most crucial lines, whilst the comparatively menial chorus hook acts as an attempt to grasp on to something in a world that feels like its drowning.
